The doc fee not only covers the preparation and processing of these documents, but also includes the storage and archiving of these documents as mandated by state law. The actual expenses incurred by the dealer and recovered by the doc fee vary by dealer, location, and transaction, but all transactions must meet many legal requirements as detailed in the documents presented to the customer.

Many of the forms you are required to complete are mandated by Massachusetts and federal laws, while others are essential for accounting and financing purposes.
